Key skills include food science knowledge, leadership, problem-solving, and compliance with regulations, leading to roles like QA Manager or Production Supervisor in bakeries and food manufacturers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Quality Control: Monitoring raw materials, in-process items, and finished products (bread, cakes, cookies) for consistency in weight, color, texture, and safety.

  • Team Leadership: Managing, coaching, and developing bakery staff to meet quality standards.

  • Food Safety & Compliance: Enforcing GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP principles, often requiring ServSafe certification.

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, state laws, and standards like FSMA, HACCP, GMPs.

  • Audit Management: Lead and prepare for internal, customer, and third-party audits (e.g., GFSI, SQF), managing documentation and corrective actions.

  • Quality Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs, including document control, training, and KPIs.
